typical layout of a carrier loaded with parts ready to machine. |
Picture all of the advantages of single sided lapping
and more! Lapping both sides at the same time means less part handling
and less time in the machine, thus, saving you money!
- Higher production rates because you are doing two
sides at once
- Greater size control: +/- .000020 (20 millionths
of an inch)
- Better parallelism: .00002 of an inch
- Flatness: .000011" (one eleventh million of
an inch)
- Finish: 4 microns
We now have 2 Peter Walters Double Sided lappers.
These machines are state of the art, with P.L.C. By having two similar
machines, the scheduling is a lot easier and allows us to have one
machine with a fine abrasive for finish work. The other one is usually
a coarser abrasive and is used for work having higher stock removals.
The machine consists of working tables of 1200 mm
(47-1/4") in diameter with 7 carriers that move the work pieces
across the entire table. These machines are equipped with "MAHR"
size control and programming capabilities. This equipment is very
capable of high precision type work.
